While there’s no official word from the 42-year-old, he indicated as much on Twitter on Thursday morning.

McBreen also replied to a Tweet from the official FFA Cup Twitter account, where Caltex Socceroos great Mark Bosnich suggested he retire on that note.

Asked if Wednesday night’s game was his last, McBeen told Fox Sports: “It could be. I don’t think I’ll be playing next year.
“We’ll see how it goes, the calf has pulled up a bit sore so I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get up for the weekend.
“It’s a nice goal to put on the highlight reel to finish.”

Despite carrying a calf injury into the match, McBreen, who won a Hyundai A-League championship with former Central Coast Mariners in 2012/13, swooped on a loose ball 35 metres from goal and hit a thunderbolt which finished in the top corner of the net.
The sensational striker sent social media into meltdown and was the highlight of the night for the Northern NSW NPL club.
“I just saw Lewi [Jets goalkeeper Lewis Italiano] standing off his line early doors and I thought ‘if anything drops I’m just going to have a hit’,” McBreen said.
“It went in top corner so I couldn’t ask for anything more.”
