Matchweek 9 preview: Western United v Macarthur FC

Macarthur FC travel to face Western United at Mars Stadium on Saturday afternoon, on the hunt for three successive A-League wins.

The Bulls are flying after an emphatic Matchweek 8 victory, notching a 4-0 win over Adelaide United thanks to the superb performance of Englishman Matt Derbyshire, who scored three goals and assisted the fourth in Macarthur’s demolition of the Reds.

Western United sat out Matchweek 8, which gave Mark Rudan’s side plenty of time to reflect on their previous A-League outing in which Central Coast Mariners came from 2-1 down to clinch a 3-2 win in Matchweek 7.

United are 10th on the A-League table, but with three games in hand on second-placed Macarthur Rudan’s side can begin to climb into the top half  with a series of positive results.

The Matchweek 9 fixture takes Macarthur out of New South Wales for just the second time this season, after the Bulls defeated Brisbane Roar 2-0 at Moreton Daily Stadium in Matchweek 7.
