Melbourne Victory are out to ignite their A-League campaign against rivals Melbourne City in the Melbourne Derby this Saturday evening.
Grant Brebner’s side are languishing in 12th place after nine games having lost six of those fixtures. Victory gave themselves some important respite by accounting for Wellington Phoenix 2-0 on February 24 but a dramatic 4-3 defeat to Western United last time out will mean Brebner’s men must lift themselves off the floor for arguably a do or die fixture for the Navy Blue.
Despite their concerns a win over City would mean they are just two points away from their Melbourne rivals on the ladder. That will not be easy against a side that have come into their stride in their last two matches.
Patrick Kisnorbo’s side will enter the clash having claimed the scalps of Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers and another victory for the club from Bundoora will catapult them into the Premiership discussion.
