Central Coast Mariners v Newcastle Jets: match preview

The battle for F3 supremacy is at stake on Saturday night as Central Coast Mariners host bitter rivals Newcastle Jets in Gosford.

A win over the nearest neighbours is always top priority for these clubs and it will be no different in this one as the two foes battle for early season bragging rights.

There is sure to be some added spice as well with Matthew Millar swapping the Mariners for Newcastle in the off-season, while Jets CEO Lawrie McKinna went to new lengths when he unfurled a Jets banner in the grandstand of their arch-rivals during the FFA Cup 2019 Semi Final.

The Mariners will be hoping to bounce back from their agonising late loss to Western Sydney Wanderers in Round 1 in their first home match of the new season.

Meanwhile, the Jets are fresh from an opening round bye and will be eyeing a winning start to the 2019/20 campaign.
