Western United fullback Josh Risdon believes his side have rediscovered their cutting edge after storming back into Hyundai A-League Finals Series contention.
Mark Rudan’s side ran riot at Coopers Stadium on Saturday afternoon as they put Adelaide United to the sword in a 5-1 win.
The Reds had few answers to the Green and Black onslaught as Besart Berisha bookended the five-goal haul with a brace to lift his tally against the club to 21 goals all told in the Hyundai A-League.

Risdon laid on three assists in the win – just one shy of the all-time Hyundai A-League record for assists in a match – however, he explained to Fox Sports that he prized the team’s performance over his own contribution.
“I had no idea [of the record],” the full-back said post-match.
“It’s obviously nice to get a couple of assists and it’s a massive win for us and it is just nice to contribute.”
Also on the goal sheet in the City of Churches were influential midfielder Alessandro Diamanti, in-form Max Burgess and Connor Pain.

SUNDAY PREVIEW: Mariners v Phoenix
SUNDAY PREVIEW: Glory v City
And, after his side broke a month long goal drought in their 6-2 win over the Mariners in the prior round, Risdon believes things are on the upswing now for United.
“Structurally we were very good,” he explained.
“We worked very hard and won the ball and with the quality up top that we have with Dia [Diamanti] and Bes [Berisha] we know if we can find them we can create the chances.
“And today we finished them off, which has probably let us down over a couple of games this season, but today was a great performance.”
Western United will have to rely on other results to stay in the top six ahead of their next game due to a bye in the next round.
Their next assignment is on the road to Perth Glory in Round 24.
