Mariners fullback Storm Roux has returned to the Central Coast after undergoing successful surgery on his fractured fibula.
Roux, who also sustained an ankle ligament disruption and dislocated shoulder during the club’s Hyundai A-League match against Melbourne City, will remain on crutches for the next eight weeks.
The 23-year-old will then commence rehab with an aim to return to full team training in five months time for the 2016/17 pre-season.
The injury comes as a blow to the Kiwi international’s hopes of being involved with the All White’s FIFA 2018 World Cup Qualifiers to take place over the Hyundai A-League off-season.
“I would just like to say a massive thank you to everyone for the messages and support I have received,” Roux said.
“The support means a lot to me and has really helped over the last few days.
“My focus now turns to recovery and rehab so that I can get back out onto the pitch as soon as possible,” Roux said.
