Mariners midfielder salutes ‘exceptional’ De Silva

Wout Brama lauded the talent of teammate Daniel De Silva after the young playmaker again starred in the 1-0 win over Perth Glory on Sunday.

De Silva assisted Blake Powell’s winner by winning possession, dribbling to the byline and spotting the attacker’s late run to complete a classy one-two.

“Danny is an exceptional player. His play on the ball is outstanding,” Brama told Fox Sports’ Shootout.

“If we work hard, Tommy (Hiariej) and me, than Danny can make the difference. You saw that today again.

“If we build our playing style I think Danny will grow more and more and he will score more goals and give more assists.”

Powell’s goal gave Mariners a second successive victory and third of the campaign, enough to sit fourth after nine matches.

Brama, who joined this season from Eredivisie outfit Utrecht, believes the squad’s bond is contributing to their improvement.

“The atmosphere in the team is really good, everybody is really enjoying helping us to good results,” he said.

“It’s one of the reasons why I came here, I want to enjoy football and at the moment I’m really happy.

“It’s our strength that we have a good atmosphere in the team and we can show that after the game if we win.”
