Central Coast Mariners have won the National Youth League for the first time in their history.
Central Coast Mariners have finally claimed the NYL title after Perth Glory were beaten 1-0 by lowly Melbourne Victory in the final round of competition.
The title is the Mariners first as despite having finished on top of the table in 2009/10 they ten fell by the wayside in the finals, a sysytem which has since been overhauled to the current ‘first past the post’ style.
The result means they have joined Gold Coast United (2) and Sydney FC (1) as winners of the youth competition.
The Mariners like their A-League side have dominated the competition courtsey of some staunch defence, conceding just 16 goals in their 17 matches throughout the season.
