Mariners crush FFA Centre of Excellence

Central Coast Mariners Youth produced a first half goal blitz and complemented their lead at the interval with a further two goals in the second 45 to dismantle FFA Centre of Excellence 6-0 in Tuggerah on Wednesday.

While both sides struggled to create clear-cut opportunities to score during the first 25 minutes of the match, Mariners Youth produced a goal frenzy from the 25th to the 30th minute to all but put the game to bed.

Anthony Kalik opened the scoring with a neat finish in the 25th minute, and less than 90 seconds later mini Mariners captain Josh Bingham doubled his side’s lead with a thumping strike.

Influential midfielder Jake McGing – who netted a hat-trick in the team’s last home NYL match – lobbed FFA Centre of Excellence custodian Brandon Osipov on the half hour to make the score 3-0.

Sam Perre has been in great goal-scoring form for Mariners Youth throughout the campaign, and he added another to his tally this season by slotting past Osipov in the 41st minute following a great cross from Bingham.

Central Coast Mariners Youth added two goals in the second stanza through Kalik (56th), who finished off some great play by Hayden Morton, and Morton himself.

Morton’s goal came direct from a corner – the former Young Socceroo guiding a superb header past Osipov in the 63rd minute to make the score 6-0.

That’s the way the game stayed – the dominant win lifting Stu Jacobs’ charges to fifth place on the Foxtel National Youth League standings after 10 of 18 rounds. Indeed, the young yellow and navy have now recorded four wins, two draws, and four defeats this season.

Central Coast Mariners Youth will play their next game on Sunday 21 December against Western Sydney Wanderers Youth.

Kick-off at the Central Coast Mariners Centre of Excellence (1 Bryant Drive, Tuggerah) is at 3:00pm. Admission is free.
