BRFC are pleased to announce that goalkeeper Jamie Young has put pen to paper and extended his tenure at Brisbane Roar.
In great news for Brisbane Roar FC, star keeper Jamie Young has extended his deal at the club.
After a standout season, the former England U20 international has signed a two-year extension which will see him remain in Brisbane for the 2018/19 and 2019/20 Hyundai A-League seasons.
“I’m extremely proud to be able to commit my long-term future to my hometown club,” Young said.
“I’ve enjoyed representing the club, the people of Brisbane, alongside the rest of the players and staff, and it’s a place that I am passionate about.
“I want to thank the club and coaching staff for the faith they have shown in me and it’s great that I can focus on improving my game on a daily basis.”
Since joining the Roar ahead of the 2014/15 season, Young has played 69 Hyundai A-League matches and is now the second most-capped goalkeeper in Roar history.
He has made 19 appearances this season, keeping four clean sheets in the process.
“Securing the signature of Jamie is fantastic news,” Roar head coach John Aloisi said.
“His form has been outstanding this season and we believe he has a massive part to play in our future success. ‘Youngy’ is a top-quality footballer who sets such high standards both on and off the park.
“I’m sure today’s news will delight our supporters and the local football community here in Brisbane.”
The acrobatic shot-stopper has been one of Brisbane’s most consistent performers in season 2017/18, regularly featuring in Hyundai A-League Team of the Week.
Young has saved more than 75% of shots on target – a league high – and also finds himself among the league leaders for big chances saved and total saves made.
Brisbane travel to New Zealand this weekend to take on the Wellington Phoenix before returning home to Suncorp Stadium for a final regular season home match against the Central Coast Mariners on Saturday, 31 March.
