Signing news: Roar sign Australian striker from Glory

Brisbane Roar Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of goal-scoring Australian striker, Adam Taggart for the next two seasons.

In a major coup for Brisbane Roar, the club have signed Caltex Socceroos striker Adam Taggart for the next two Hyundai A-League seasons.

The 24-year-old is a proven goal-scorer in the Hyundai A-League, winning the golden boot award with the Newcastle Jets in the 2013/14 Season.

His superb displays that campaign earned him a spot in Ange Postecoglou’s 2014 FIFA World Cup squad, with Taggart starting the final group match against Spain.

Despite managing just 14 appearances with Perth Glory in the Hyundai A-League in 2017/18, Taggart still finished as the club’s leading scorer with nine goals.

“I am delighted to be joining the three-time Champions, Brisbane Roar for the next two seasons,” Taggart said on Tuesday.

“I’m ready to hit the ground running in pre-season and I’m excited for what the future holds.

“I cannot wait to start working with [coach] John [Aloisi] and the rest of the team as we push for a fourth Championship.

“It’ll be a special moment for me when I get to run out onto Suncorp Stadium for the first time in orange.”

Taggart

Since making his Hyundai A-League debut as a 17-year-old in the 2010/11 Season, Taggart has appeared 92 times and scoring 39 goals for both the Glory and Jets.

He is an exciting addition to the Roar squad, especially with key attackers Massimo Maccarone (released) and Fahid Ben Khalfallah (retired) leaving the club after their finals exit last month.

“We are delighted to sign a young, talented, Australian striker who we know will suit our style of play and has the potential to be one of the leading strikers in the league next season,” Aloisi said.

“I’m sure our fans and the local football community will be looking forward to seeing Adam in action. We are building strong foundations and we believe Adam will play a significant part in our push for a fourth championship.”

Roar will return to pre-season training in early June 2018.
