In a huge boost for Melbourne City as they begin pre-season training, the club has confirmed playmaker Luke Brattan has signed a one-year contract extension with the Hyundai A-League club.
The 28-year-old midfielder returns for his third season on loan from Melbourne’s sister-club Manchester City FC.

Brattan was one of City’s best in the 2017/18 Season, making 27 appearances for Warren Joyce’s trooops and scoring against Sydney FC.
“Luke’s contribution to the side over the past two season has been significant both on the field and in the dressing room,” City’s Director of Football Michael Petrillo said.
“He has played an important role in linking our defence and attack, and his experience has played an important part in developing the young talent in the squad.
“We are glad to have him back on the pitch for 2018/19.”

Meanwhile, City’s pre-season campaign gets underway on Thursday as the players report back for day one of training.
It’s the start of a 12-week training block before the Hyundai A-League gets underway, with the club’s first friendly to come on their tour to India against Kerala Blasters on Tuesday, 24 July.
