Kenny Lowe says morale in the Perth Glory squad is high and is adamant the club can still make a charge for the Hyundai A-League Finals Series over the last seven games.
Glory is currently seven points outside the top six on the back of just one win in their last seven matches.
While there’s plenty of work to do, those deep inside the Glory camp still believe they can make a late charge for the top six.
It starts on Saturday night at nib Stadium when they take on third-placed Melbourne City.
“The spirit’s good, the mood’s good. There are seven cup finals left and the hunger is to win the next game,” Lowe declared.
“If we win the next one, we go into the following game with confidence and if we win that one as well, all of a sudden we’ve got momentum.
“We’ve got most people back [from injury] and wins change mindsets. We’ve gone on rolls of six or seven games every season I’ve been here and there’s no reason why we can’t do it again.
“We’ve got the players to do it and the firepower to do it and with a little bit of luck, we’ll do it.”
Glory could be boosted by the return of Caltex Socceroos striker Adam Taggart.
Taggart hasn’t played since picking up a hamstring injury in Round 17.
While he wasn’t named in Glory’s official squad on Thursday, Lowe hinted Taggart feature against City.
“Taggs [Taggart] could be back and it’ll be great to have a bit of firepower on the bench,” the Glory boss said.
“That’ll be good for everyone and good for him.”
Encouragingly for Glory, they have won seven of their last nine games against City at nib Stadium, keeping four clean sheets.
