Perth Glory coach Kenny Lowe says he doesn’t care if people start to take his side seriously now or not despite their impressive road win over fellow title contenders Sydney FC on Thursday night.
Whether Lowe likes it or not his side announced themselves as genuine Hyundai A-League title contenders with a come-from-behind 2-1 win over the Sky Blues.
“They don’t have to give us credit,” Lowe said.
“Just leave us alone, forget about us tell us we’re crap and then we’ll just keep winning.”
Lowe praised his side’s spirit and mental strength to fightback after going behind 12 minutes after the break to a dubious penalty.
Referee Alan Milliner adjudged Dino Djulbic to have handled in the area despite the being just a couple of yards away from a fearsome Shane Smeltz shot and having his arms down by his side.
Luckily for Perth they managed to regroup and hit back through goals from Rostyn Griffiths and a penalty of their own to Andy Keogh inside the last seven minutes.
“I would have sent (the fine) to FFA If I had copped one,” Lowe said when asked what his reaction would have been if they lost.
“I don’t know whether either penalty was a penalty but that’s the way it works sometimes.
“The dynamic of the game changed on the penalty incident. But fair credit to us, the character, resolve, whatever you want to call it, the quality, the sheer desire and belief to stay in the game was immense.”
There were reports during the night that midfielder Youssouf Hersi could be sidelined for the rest of the season with the hamstring injury sustained in the draw with Brisbane Roar on the weekend.
It’s believed scans have confirmed the Dutchman has torn the hamstring off the bone but Lowe says the club won’t know anything until they return to Perth on Friday.
