Western Sydney Wanderers FC are proud to announce that goalkeeper Daniel Lopar has signed a contract extension that will see him at the club until the end of the Hyundai A-League 2021/22 season.
Western Sydney Wanderers have locked down their Swiss shot-stopper Daniel Lopar for two additional seasons.
The 34-year-old has been one of the stand-out performers for the Red and Black in 2019/20 in his 12 Hyundai A-League matches since moving Down Under in the off-season.
Wanderers head coach Markus Babbel recruited Lopar from Swiss Super League outfit St. Gallen, where he had spent the past 13 years, and he will now stay in the Harbour City until 2022.
Lopar kept two clean sheets in his first four games in Western Sydney colours but has not added to that tally during the club’s woeful run of form that has seen Wanderers pick up only one win from 10 matches.
Only two goalkeepers – Mark Birighitti of Central Coast Mariners and Adelaide United’s Paul Izzo – have made more saves this season, but Lopar believes his side will turn their fortunes around.
“I’m very happy to be continuing my journey at the Western Sydney Wanderers for the next two years and I believe in the potential of the club,” Lopar told the club’s website.
