Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has been announced as the new head coach of Brisbane Roar.
Fowler, 44, has signed a two-year contract with the Queenslanders, concluding the Hyundai A-League club’s four-month hunt to replace John Aloisi, who resigned in December 2018.
Interim coach Darren Davies will remain at the helm for Brisbane’s final match of the campaign against Adelaide United on Thursday.

“I’m really looking forward to the challenge and am determined to bring success to a club that has such a proud history in the Hyundai A-League,” Fowler told the club’s website.
“I’m really keen to get started and make a difference.
“My family and I have already experienced living in Queensland, so I’m really happy to be returning and being part of the Brisbane Roar family.”
The Roar job will be Fowler’s first coaching role other than a brief stint as player-coach at Thai outfit Muangthong United in 2011/12.
But the former England striker, who scored 183 goals in 369 games for Premier League giants Liverpool and also turned out for Leeds United and Manchester City, is no stranger to the Hyundai A-League having played for North Queensland Fury (in 2009/10) and Perth Glory (2010/11).
The 26-cap England international scored 18 goals on Australian soil, nine apiece for North Queensland and Perth.
