Aspiring young female players in Tasmania have been treated to a special visit from Westfield Matildas representatives as the FIFA ‘Live Your Goals’ campaign rolled into the Apple Isle.
Westfield Matildas Head Coach Alen Stajcic and striker Michelle Heyman have attended the opening two days of the festival which will see activations and events including girls only gala days take place throughout the State up until Saturday.
Stajcic was a special guest at Monday’s official media launch at the East Launceston Primary School, the Westfield Matildas boss taking time out to speak to and share his knowledge and experience with local coaches, school teachers and players.
Heyman, who was recently announced as a FIFA ‘Live Your Goals’ ambassador, spent Tuesday morning with local players and girls in Montello, the Canberra United forward delighted to be able to share her passion and love of the game.
“I was really excited when I was asked to be a ‘Live Your Goals’ ambassador and having the chance to come to Tasmania and spend some time with the young female players and students has been great,” Heyman said.
“The girls are all so keen, I’m stoked to be a part of this and I hope that being a role model to them will help them dream big and enjoy all of the benefits that football brings.”
The FIFA ‘Live Your Goals’ festival will visit Launceston, Invernay, Montello, Devonport, Glenorchy, Newtown and Hobart. Click here for further details on what events are happening each day during the week.
