Riley McGree’s sensational goal-scoring form has continued with his late goal handing Adelaide United a 1-0 win over Brisbane Roar at Coopers Stadium on Saturday.
A tight contest appeared to be heading towards a goalless draw before McGree scored his fourth goal in his last three Hyundai A-League games to win it for the hosts six minutes from time.
McGree finished off a slick move from the hosts which was orchestrated by the excellent James Troisi.
With four goals, McGree is now equal-leading scorer in the Hyundai A-League this season alongside Jamie Maclaren and Mitchell Duke.
The win was Gertjan Verbeek’s side’s second on the bounce and propels them into the top six after five rounds.
But Roar boss Robbie Fowler is still searching for his first win as his side drew a blank in front of goal for a third straight match.

Key moments
Reds rock the woodwork
It was almost a dream start for Adelaide United, with only the crossbar denying the home side the lead.
Ryan Strain’s whipped cross to the right was attacked by Michael Maria, who outjumped his marker and powered a header towards goal which rattled the woodwork and bounced away.

Roar denied twice in the matter of seconds
A short corner causes havoc in the Adelaide box as Roar go agonisingly close to taking the lead.
First a stunning reflex save from Paul Izzo denied Scott Neville, before Macauley Gillesphey smashed the rebound towards goal, which was blocked by Michael Jakobsen.

Inman almost sinks hometown club
A defensive lapse from Michael Marrone allowed South Australian raised Bradden Inman to bear down on the Adelaide goal.
The Roar attacker steadied himself as he went one-on-one with Izzo but could only fire his shot straight at the Reds gloveman.

McGree does it again for Adelaide
Superb combination play between James Troisi and Nikola Mileusnic on the left, with the pair playing a neat one-two to get the former in behind the Roar defence.
Troisi then shows great composure to cut the ball back to McGree who slid the ball into the net for his fourth goal in his last three Hyundai A-League appearances.
