Kosta Barbarouses (two) and Besart Berisha took the plaudits after their clinical strikes propelled Victory to a 3-0 win over Wanderers, but it was winger Leroy George who continued a sizzling assist record.
George is officially the assist King of the A-League after his clever lay-off allowed Berisha to score Victory’s second at ANZ Stadium on Friday night.
That assist meant George claimed his 11th of the season, which is five more assists than any other A-League player this season.
What’s more, the Dutchman has registered four assists in his last two appearances for Victory, as they aim to catch the second-placed Jets.
Can anyone catch George this season in the assist stats?
He’s proving key in the Victory’s resurgence leading into the Big Blue next week when they will look to contain the likes of Bobo, Ninkovic and Mierzejewski.
Little wonder Victory coach Kevin Muscat was a satisfied man after the Wanderers win.
“Leroy, Kosta and Terry and Bes, they asked a helluva lot of questions,” he told Fox Sports.
