Adelaide United’s young gun Matthew Leckie is a late withdrawal from the Reds line up, ruled out with a knee injury hours before kickoff for the match against Wellington Phoenix.
The Young Socceroo overextended his knee during the Reds training session on Thursday and after examining the injury this morning United head coach Rini Coolen and the medical staff elected not to risk the star forward.
The Phoenix clash was set to be Leckie’s first hit out in the A-League since the 2-0 victory against Perth Glory at Hindmarsh Stadium in week 8, after the speedster’s successful Asian U19 tournament in China.
Leckie is expected to return for the Reds next match against Melbourne Victory at Etihad Stadium while Argentine playmaker Marcos Flores looks set to start his first game since injuring his hamstring.
