Leaders clash with Champions on ABC1

Tune in to ABC1 each Sunday at 3pm nationally for LIVE Westfield W-League action, this week featuring a heavyweight match-up between leaders Canberra United and reigning champions Melbourne Victory.

The two sides, who have won two of the last three Westfield W-League crowns, boast numerous internationals and a high-quality contest seems assured for both supporters in the nation’s capital and armchair fans alike.

Canberra have a slim grip on top spot thanks to goal difference following two successive wins to open their campaign.

United, having benefitted from a stable off-season, look strong all over the park with experienced midfielders and a pacy, lethal forward line.

After an opening round loss, Melbourne Victory showed their true attacking potential with 5-3 win against Western Sydney Wanderers.

Lisa De Vanna is the headline act, but new midfielder Christine Nairn looks to be a massive addition to the ranks. The Victory are hoping to field American imports Lauren Barnes and Elli Reed for the first time this weekend.

This season’s ABC’s Sunday afternoon broadcast games will again be hosted by Stephanie Brantz, with former Matildas and Wanderers star Sarah Walsh joining Peter Wilkins in commentary.

Catch all the action Live nationally at 3.00pm Sunday on ABC1, or catch up from Monday on ABC iView with a full replay each Tuesday at 3.30am.
