Adelaide United midfielder Iacopo La Rocca will miss the Reds next three matches through suspension after the Match Review Panel delivered the following verdict.
The independent Match Review Panel (MRP) – consisting of Simon Micallef (Chair), Alan Contini and Alan Davidson – reconvened today to consider a Citation Incident involving Iacopo La Rocca of Adelaide United (the Player) which arose in or around the 24th minute of Adelaide United’s Round 18 Hyundai A-League Match against Sydney FC on Friday 5 February 2016.
The Player was cited by the MRP in accordance with the Hyundai A-League Disciplinary Regulations (Regulations). In reviewing the Citation Incident during this afternoon’s meeting, the MRP took into consideration all of the available evidence, including the submissions lodged by Adelaide United on behalf of the Player.
The MRP determined that the Player committed the offence of Assault on a Player (e.g. violent conduct when not challenging for the ball) against Matt Simon (Sydney FC). The MRP proposed a sanction of the Mandatory Match suspension plus two (2) additional Hyundai A-League matches.
Under the Regulations, the Player may refer the matter to the Disciplinary Committee for hearing and determination of the sole question of sanction. The Player has until 12:00pm (AEDT) Thursday 11 February 2016 to advise whether he wishes to do so.
