Adelaide boss switches focus to clash with red-hot Wanderers

Having just recorded an impressive 3-0 away win over Perth Glory, Adelaide United boss Marco Kurz has immediately turned his focus to Wednesday night’s crunch clash with in-form Western Sydney Wanderers.

The Reds consolidated their spot in the Hyundai A-League top six as goals to Daniel Adlung, Nathan Konstandopoulos and Johan Absalonsen handed them their biggest ever win in the west.

But another huge task awaits them on Wednesday night with a trip to ANZ Stadium to face a resurgent Wanderers coming off back-to-back wins themselves.

“I think when you see the table both teams are very close,” Kurz said.

“Every game is important and every game is very close and you must perform in every one 100% to get points.

“We know that it’s very difficult to play in Western Sydney, they’re in a good moment with two wins in a row and it’s a good team.

“But we are also a good team, we are Adelaide United and we believe in our quality and on Wednesday we travel to Sydney to get three points.”

Adelaide’s win over Glory was made even more impressive considering they were without a host of players either to injury or on international duty.

Youngster Daniel Margush deputised for Paul Izzo in goal and was solid in everything he did, while Konstandopoulos and substitute Jordan O’Doherty also caught the eye.

“It’s not easy to play here and we are very happy. We had big problems because we lost three starters for the U-23 tournament and it was not so easy to find the right line-up,” the Reds boss said.

“But the boys did a good job and I think the win and the victory was important.

“Also we played very seriously and very controlled and waited for the right moment.”
