Brisbane Roar has continued their rich vein of pre-season form, beating Northern Fury 5-1 today in the Wingate Properties Townsville Football Cup.
A hat-trick to Albanian striker Mensur Kurtishi in only his second match in Roar colours was the highlight for the visitors with Corey Brown netting a first-half penalty and Kofi Danning coolly finishing off a one-on-one after the break.
Brown opened the scoring in the 18th minute after Jai Ingham was fouled by Mattieu Peyre inside the area before the home side equalised four minutes after the restart through a well-taken header from captain Jacob Crowley.
Kurtishi needed less than 10 minutes to make his mark after his half-time introduction, combining with Costa Rican striker Jean Carlos Solorzano to make it 2-1 before Danning added his strike just a minute later.
The Albanian had his second just after the hour mark before youngster Shannon Brady, who scored the Roar’s fourth against the Jets on Sunday, put in a telling cross for Kurtishi to finish with a clever header, wrapping up the 5-1 result.
Brisbane Roar now face Sydney FC in their final match of the Wingate Properties Townsville Football Cup on Saturday, 30 August at 8pm.
