Keogh hat-trick sees Glory shutdown City

A hat-trick from striker Andy Keogh has fired Perth Glory to a stunning 3-2 win over Melbourne City in Harvey Norman Friday night football at AAMI Park.

City twice came from behind in the hotly contested clash, via a Bruno Fornaroli penalty and Fernando Brandán finish but it was the Irishman that had the final say.

Glory coach Kenny Lowe was sent to stands for the second-half after he took umbrage to the penalty decision but he will relish the three points which sees his side move to the top of the table.

GOALS

0-1 Perth Glory: Andy Keogh, 7’

A Nebojsa Marinkovic free-kick found Chris Harold in space on the right, who squared the ball for Keogh to turn home from close range.

1-1 Melbourne City: Bruno Fornaroli, 44’

The Uruguayan won his side a penalty when he was judged to have been tripped in the box and he sent Dean Bouzanis the wrong way from the spot to level the scores.

1-2 Perth Glory: Andy Keogh, 49’

A corner was whipped into the box and while the ball was initially cleared Dino Djulbic was able to head it back towards goal where Keogh pounced with a header of his own.

2-2 Melbourne City: Fernando Brandan, 60’

Glory were caught in possession deep in defence and were quickly punished with Fornaroli feeding Cahill who put Brandan through on goal and he coolly finished.

2-3 Perth Glory: Andy Keogh, 85’

A terrible defensive header from Josh Rose was only made worse when he headed the ball into the path of Keogh, who chipped a stranded Bouzanis to bring up his hat-trick.

OPTA STATS
