Australian Professional Leagues (APL) partnered with FCA in 2022-23 to give fans a crucial say in recognising outstanding coaching performances across both the Ninja A-League Women and Isuzu UTE A-League Men.
The FCA assembled an experienced panel that select the monthly nominees for Coach of the Month in both leagues; a fan vote then decides the winner from the monthly nominees.
The January/February eligibility period included Rounds 13-16 of the Ninja A-League season, with results between January 24 and February 16 considered by the FCA Panel when voting for the Coach of the Month nominees.
Smith oversaw five games in the eligibility period, registering two wins, two draws and one defeat.
