Sydney FC-s trip to face Newcastle Jets at Wollongong-s WIN Stadium on Saturday (14th September – 5.30pm) will bring back some happy memories for defender Matt Jurman.

The centre half lived in the town for the early part of his life, playing for the Wollongong Wolves as a youngster and has since gone on to win two A-League titles.

“I grew up in Wollongong until I was about 12 and 13 and then moved to Sydney, so it-s going to be a special game in terms of having friends and family there. I-m looking forward to it,” he said.

“I started [playing at Wollongong Wolves] when I was four years old and have got some special memories from when I was a young boy.

“It-s changed a lot since I-ve been there but I-ve still got family down there.”

Sydney FC are set to field a strong first team against the Jets as Head Coach Frank Farina steps up his preparations for the Hyundai A-League 2013/14 season.

“Newcastle have got a good team so I-m looking forward to a good match and I think it-s going to be a good game,” said Jurman.

“Both teams are working towards that first game on the 11th of October against each other at Allianz Stadium,

“Hopefully there-s a big crowd there tomorrow, I-m sure there-s a lot of Sydney FC fans in Wollongong and we can put on a good game for them.

“Hopefully they-ll come back and come up to watch some of our games during the season.”

All of Sydney FC-s first team squad will be attending the game including recently returned World Cup winner Alessandro Del Piero.
