Olyroos defender collects Young Football of the Year nomination for March

Sydney FC and Olyroos defender Jordan Courtney-Perkins has earned the March nomination for Isuzu UTE A-League Young Footballer of the Year.

Courtney-Perkins, 21, earned the nomination via a voting panel made up of Boris Seroshtan, Warren Grieve, Teo Pellizzeri, Simon Hill, Gabor Ganczer and Tony Vidmar.

The left-back has made 22 appearances (14) starts in his first season at the Sky Blues, scoring two goals and playing a key role in Ufuk Talay’s side on a surge into fourth spot on the Isuzu UTE A-League table.

Courtney-Perkins’ first season at Sydney FC is currently on hold as he takes part in the Subway Olyroos’ AFC Under-23 Asian Cup campaign; the Australia U23s play Jordan, Indonesia and host nation Qatar in the group stage between April 15 and 21.

The Sydney defender is the sixth nominee for the Young Footballer of the Year award this season joining Western Sydney Wanderers forward Nicolas Milanovic, Newcastle Jets defender Mark Natta (January), Central Coast Mariners full-back Jacob Farrell (December), Wellington Phoenix keeper Alex Paulsen (November), and Adelaide United’s Nestory Irankunda (October) in contention for the annual award.
