Newcastle Jets have signed attacking midfielder Zenon Caravella on a year-and-a-half deal.

Adelaide United released Caravella, their Player of the Year last season, late on Tuesday, and the Jets say the 29-year-old’s experience will be important addition to their squad.

“We are excited to sign Zenon and believe he will be a great addition to the squad,” CEO Robbie Middleby said.

“It is fantastic to have someone of his experience, reputation and versatility join the Jets.”

Caravella said he is looking forward to linking up with the Jets as they continue their push to secure a spot in the A-League’s top six.

“I’m really excited to be joining the Jets and grateful that Gary (van Egmond) has given me this opportunity during the season,” he said.

“I’ve always found that the Jets have a never-give-up attitude and I’m looking forward to being a part of this club and playing in front of the Newcastle fans.”
