The Newcastle Jets have continued to build on their impressive line-up for the upcoming Hyundai A-League season with the signing of Brazilian defender Tiago Calvano.
The Jets poached the 1.88m defender from Fortuna Dusseldorf in the second tier of the German Bundesliga and he is due to link up with the Jets in early July.
Newcastle Jets Chief Executive Officer Robbie Middleby said the 29-year-old’s signing is an excellent acquisition for the Newcastle club.
“It is always exciting to introduce a player with flair to our fans,” Middleby said. “This is unique for a defender but Tiago is confident on the ball and has a special talent that brings together Brazilian flair with German efficiency.”
“The addition of Tiago, along with Jason Culina, Byun Sung-Hwan, Chris Payne and our many young new stars, leaves just one more position to fill. A goal scoring marquee striker.”
