Newcastle Jets coach Mark Jones bemoaned the self-inflicted errors which haunted his side for a second straight week in their 2-0 defeat to Wellington Phoenix.
The hosts punished Newcastle for failing to protect possession with Roy Krishna’s second goal the direct result of a midfield turnover.

“We did it last week against Sydney as well. We turned it over in our own possession in areas we shouldn’t,” Jones said.
“We played out better from the back today than we did against Sydney so that was positive, but conceding two goals is not good enough.
“The second goal annoyed me the most. It was sloppy.”
Saturday’s loss makes it back-to-back defeats for Newcastle after going unbeaten in their opening three fixtures.
“It’s disappointing because we did have a good start to the season,” Jones said.
“I thought we played out better today and thought we did quite well in terms of keeping possession here.
“It’s a difficult place to play football. I thought we tried to play football.
“(But I’m) extremely disappointed we were 2-0 down at half-time and didn’t give ourselves the best opportunity to perhaps get something from the game.”
