Football Federation Australia (FFA) Director of Referees Ben Wilson has announced that Jarred Gillett will referee the Hyundai A-League 2018 Grand Final between Newcastle Jets and Melbourne Victory at McDonald Jones Stadium on Saturday 5 May.
Gillett was named the Hyundai A-League 2017/18 Referee of the Year at the Dolan Warren Awards held at the Star Event Centre in Sydney last night.
Wilson congratulated Gillett on his fifth appointment as the Hyundai A-League Grand Final referee.
“Jarred has had another excellent season. He has performed well many times before on the big stage and I am looking forward to watching Jarred and his team officiate on Saturday,” said Wilson.
“I would also congratulate all the match officials who have been selected to officiate at the Hyundai A-League 2018 Grand Final. This is also a reward for their outstanding performances throughout the season,” concluded Wilson.
Gillett was again extremely proud to again be appointed to referee the Hyundai A-League Grand Final.
“The Grand Final is the pinnacle of the Hyundai A-League season and it’s an honour to lead the team of match officials in Saturday’s decider,” Gillett said.
“This appointment wouldn’t be possible without the strong support of my colleagues, FFA Referees coaching staff, my wife Michelle, and my family.”
“The refereeing team has plenty of finals experience and I’m confident that we’ll be fully prepared for what should be a competitive Grand Final on Saturday night,” concluded Gillett.
Wilson also announced that Gillett will be joined by Assistant Referees Matthew Cream and Paul Cetrangolo, Kurt Ams (Fourth Official) and Andrew Lindsay (Fifth Official) with Craig Zetter Video Assistant Referee.
