Former Sydney FC marquee Marc Janko will definitely not be back in Australia next season after signing with Swiss champions FC Basel.
The Austrian has joined the club on a one-year deal with the option for a second after his contract was not renewed by the Sky Blues.
Janko, who turned 32 on Thursday, is set to lead Austria at next year’s European Championships being staged in France.
The Austrians are currently four points clear at the top of Group G in qualifying, with Janko netting three times including a spectacular bicycle-kick goal against Russia earlier this month.
