Melbourne City captain Scott Jamieson has elected to remain in Melbourne with his young family for the remainder of the Hyundai A-League campaign, following the birth of his first child earlier this month.
Jamieson departed City’s hub in New South Wales on August 1 in the hours after his side’s 2-0 win over Sydney FC.
The 31-year-old told the club website of his hopes of rejoining the squad some time before the conclusion of their 2019/20 campaign, but revealed via Twitter on Monday afternoon he would remain in Melbourne to support his young family through what he describes as a ‘new chapter in crazy times.’

“In what has been a tough decision, I want to let you know I won’t be returning to the hub to finish this season out,” Jamieson wrote on his personal Twitter account.
“My family is starting this new chapter in crazy times and I need to be here to support them.
“What gives me comfort in this decision though is knowing that the staff and players who are in NSW representing the club have been brilliant from day one of pre-season up until now, and I have full faith that we can finish what we set out to do.
“I appreciate all the messages and look forward to supporting the lads with you all.”
The news comes as City prepare for the final game of a regular season campaign in which they have already secured a second-place finish.
Erick Mombaerts’ side will shape up for their third game after the restart against Western United at Nestrata Jubilee Stadium on Wednesday night before progressing directly to the Semi-Finals of the Hyundai A-League Finals Series.
