Signing news: Roar announce signing of promising youngster Powell

Brisbane Roar have announced the signing of promising youngster Izaack Powell for the Hyundai A-League 2019/20 season.

The 17-year old became the Roar’s youngest ever player back in Round 18 when he took to the field against Sydney FC aged 16.

Powell, who plies his trade at fullback, has been an integral part of the Young Roar’s recent Foxtel Y-League success and will officially join the senior ranks of the Queensland club as a Scholarship player.

Powell told brisbaneroar.com.au he was thrilled with the chance to prove himself at senior level.

“The hard work I’ve been putting in all year is starting to pay off, but this is just the beginning,” said Powell.

“The coaches provide a great transition here between the Youth team & the first team and that definitely helps the younger players and it feels more natural when they get their opportunity.”

Brisbane’s interim manager Darren Davies revealed he was proud to see a local player keen to sign on with the Sunshine State’s sole Hyundai A-League club.

“We’re delighted that Izaack has committed to the Club,” Davies said.

“It’s great to again see a young player at this Club taking his opportunity & Izaack is an exciting Queensland talent who has a very bright future ahead of him.”
