The latest findings from the CIES Football Observatory ranks the A-League Men fifth on a list of 74 leagues worldwide in chances created per game.
The German Bundesliga leads the way in chances created, with an average of 12.96 per match. The A-League Men’s tally of 12.15 created chances per game ranks higher than many of the world’s top leagues, including English Premier League, Italian Serie A, the Dutch Eredevisie and French Ligue 1.

The CIES Football Observatory’s findings were measured per match, per league between January 1, 2022 and September 26, 2022.
In the same time period, the A-League Men ranked seventh for goals per game, at an average of 3.04 – level with the German Bundesliga. The Swiss Challenge League topped the charts with an average of 3.38. Comparatively, the Premier League’s 2.84 ranked 18th, whilst France (16th), Italy (32nd) and Spain (46th) lagged far behind.

Round 1 of the A-League Men campaign saw 11 goals produced from five games. Four of those strikes – including three from Saturday night’s thrilling Big Blue between Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory – are included in the Isuzu UTE Goal of the Week nominations for Round 1.
