Adelaide United Football Club is delighted to announce Spanish midfielder, Isaías, has agreed to extend his contract with the club by a further two seasons.
With his contract set to expire at the end of the current playing season, the Spaniard has chosen to remain with the Reds until the end of the Hyundai A-League 2016/17 season.
Isaías has made a total of 49 appearances for the Reds since first signing for the club in 2013 and currently leads the Hyundai A-League for the most completed passes. He was also part of the Adelaide United squad that won the inaugural Westfield FFA Cup in December 2014 and last season was crowned the 2013/14 Aurelio Vidmar Club Champion.
Following the signing of his contract extension, Isaías expressed his extreme pleasure to have committed his future to the Reds, saying the current performances of the club, as well as his family’s happiness, as being major factors in his re-signing.
“I have decided to extend my contract here because I am very happy,” Isaías said.
“It was easy for me because the club wants me here and my family is also very happy here – we love the Adelaide life.
“Everything is helping me because I love the football that we’re playing and I trust in the way that we play. Also knowing that a lot of my teammates have re-signed for the next seasons is important for me too.
“I’m really enjoying my role in the team and I feel like I am an important player in the team, but every player is important and every player is helping us (progress).”
Adelaide United’s head-coach, Josep Gombau, stated his delight in securing Isaías for another two years, saying his experience and knowledge of the Reds’ style of play makes the No. 8 a very influential figure in the squads future ambitions.
“We are happy for this extension (to Isa’s contract),” Gombau explained.
“He is a player that for us is very important and he is a key player in the team. He understands a lot of the style and our systems and our movements and he is our brain in the centre of the field.
“Now that he has re-signed with us, we can enjoy his football for more seasons to come.”
Isaías is set to make his 50th appearance for the Reds against Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday night at Coopers Stadium in Round 18 of the Hyundai A-League. Kick-off is at 7.00pm ACDT.
