Internationals and Yuel among seven Jets departures

Newcastle Jets have started preparing for the 2022-23 Isuzu UTE A-A-League season following the departure of seven players.

Internationals Olivier Boumal, Savvas Siatravanis and Mario Arques have left the Jets, along with Valentino Yuel, Dylan Murnane, former captain Taylor Regan and Jordan O’Doherty at the conclusion of their contracts.

Cameroonian winger Boumal and Greek forward Siatravanis arrived in Australia at the start of the season and scored four and two goals respectively under head coach Arthur Papas, whose Jets missed the finals after finishing ninth.

Spaniard Arques made 14 appearances for Newcastle in the A-League Men.

South Sudan international and ex-Western United forward Yuel scored 10 goals in 47 games across two seasons with the Jets, Murnane arrived at the start of the season and Regan re-joined Newcastle during the 2021-22 campaign, while O’Doherty featured 18 times this term.

It comes as Papas builds his squad for next season following his contract extension, which runs to the end of the 2023-24 campaign.
