Semi-Final Ins & Outs: Jets keeper back from suspension to give coach selection dilemma

The teams are IN ahead of the first legs of the 2023-24 Liberty A-League Semi-Finals.

Newcastle Jets finished sixth this season but an upset Elimination Final win over Western United set up a two-legged Semi against Premiers Melbourne City. The first leg kicks off at Maitland Regional Sportsground this Sunday, and the Jets are bolstered by first-choice goalkeeper Izzy Nino returning from a two-game ban.

Tiahna Robertson has performed superbly in goal in Nino’s absence since signing on an injury replacement contract prior to the final round of the regular season; Campbell must decide now whether to bring Nino back into his starting 11 at Robertson’s expense.

Central Coast Mariners host Sydney FC in the other Semi-Final, at Industree Group Stadium on Sunday. The Mariners go into Sunday’s first leg unchanged while Sydney bring four players into their extended squad after a 4-0 loss to Melbourne Victory in the final round of the season.
