Melbourne City’s Hyundai A-League title hopes have been dealt a big blow with news key attacker Fernando Brandan has injured his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) at training.
The Argentine suffered the injury in training and will undergo an immediate rehabilitation program.
While the severity of the injury is still unknown, Brandan’s 2016/17 campaign appears over.
The injury is a major blow for third-placed City as the 26-year-old had been one of their best performers throughout the campaign.
After joining the club at the start of the season, Brandan has made 19 appearances for Michael Valkanis’ side, scoring three goals and assisting three others.
