The leading goalscoring list in the Westfield W-League is starting to take shape with three international players topping the list after Round 5.
Wales captain and midfielder Jess Fishlock scored her third goal of the campaign in Melbourne City’s crucial 2-1 win over fellow title-contenders Brisbane Roar on Sunday.
A few hours earlier American striker Jen Hoy bagged her third in as many matches, albeit in a losing side, as Newcastle Jets were edged out 2-1 at home against Sydney FC.
The pair join English forward Natasha Dowie of Melbourne Victory at the top with three goals apiece.
Only one import has claimed the honour in the eight seasons of the Westfield W-League – Sydney FC’s English striker Jodie Taylor in 2014.
Three more players advanced to two goals on the weekend – Ellie Brush (Canberra United), Katrina Gorry (Brisbane Roar) and Rosie Sutton (Perth Glory).
