Melbourne City FC 1-2 Melbourne Victory

Victory defeated City 2-1 thanks to a Leroy George winner after a typically full-throttle Melbourne Derby at AAMI Park.
Billed as “The Decider” after each side had won one derby each this season, this clash didn’t disappoint with both sets of players throwing themselves into the contest.
It was classic derby fare.
Kosta Barbarouses thought he’d opened the scoring inside two minutes but the VAR correctly ruled Berisha was offside.
But the All White did score the opener minutes later before Bruno Fornaroli – in his first start for City since last August – smashed a penalty to level the game after the break.
George’s header just after the hour mark won the derby. Though there was even more drama.
Incredibly, James Troisi in the eighth minute of stoppage time had the City goal at his mercy after keeper Dean Bouzanis had gone up for a corner.
The Victory striker was unable to guide the ball into the empty net from about 30 yards out.
Newcastle Jets 2-1 Sydney FC

A 10-man Newcastle Jets stoically defied their numerical disadvantage to stun Sydney FC in a spellbinding 2-1 win at McDonald Jones Stadium on Saturday.
Andrew Nabbout’s sensational 30-yard strike sealed Jets’ first victory over the Sky Blues since December 2012 after Bobo had cancelled out Dimitri Petratos’ penalty.
The result hardly seemed likely when Roy O’Donovan was sent off in the 14th minute for a stray arm to the face of Jordy Buijs.
But the Jets recovered to go ahead before half-time, Petratos converting following Buijs’ foul on Nikolai Topor-Stanley.
Bobo hit back with a smart header soon after the interval, although parity would only last for four minutes.
Nabbout was the hero with his superb long-range goal completing a shock result that shaves Sydney FC’s lead back to eight points.
Brisbane Roar 1-0 Adelaide United

Eric Bautheac’s brilliant free-kick boosted Brisbane Roar’s Finals Series hopes in a 1-0 win over Adelaide United at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday.
The French ace netted the only goal shortly before half-time to lift his side within one point of sixth-placed Western Sydney Wanderers.
Adelaide, who welcomed Johan Absalonsen back from injury for the final 30 minutes, were unable to make their opportunities count.
Nikola Mileusnic had the best of them, but Jamie Young reacted well down low to his left in a one-on-one.
Roar also had chances to extend the margin as Paul Izzo foiled Brett Holman and Corey Gameiro.
They didn’t need the cushion in the end, though, with a fourth win in six confirming Brisbane as being on the march.
Western Sydney Wanderers 1-1 Perth Glory

Liam Reddy was shown a late red card as Western Sydney Wanderers and Perth Glory fought out a 1-1 draw at Spotless Stadium on Sunday.
An onrushing Reddy was dismissed for tripping Jaushua Sotirio as the forward advanced on goal, leaving Dino Djulbic to see out stoppage time as Glory’s makeshift goalkeeper.
The visitors did enough to eke out a point, although the result does little to enhance their Finals Series chances as they remain four points off the sixth-placed Wanderers.
Xavi Torres’ penalty earlier cancelled out Mark Bridge’s clinical first-half opener, with both goals scored in the space of three minutes.
Kenny Lowe’s side lost Diego Castro to injury in the warm-up and are now winless in six away matches, while Western Sydney are unbeaten in seven at Spotless Stadium.
