Michael Beauchamp says the calibre of teams the FOXTEL A-League All Stars concept has been able to attract shows how the Hyundai A-League is now viewed overseas.
Western Sydney defender Michael Beauchamp says the calibre of teams the FOXTEL A-League All Stars concept has been able to attract shows how the Hyundai A-League is now viewed overseas.
Beauchamp was a part of the inaugural FOXTEL A-League All Stars clash against Manchester United last year and is hoping to get another crack when Italian giants Juventus head to Sydney in August.
The Wanderers skipper, who has played at a FIFA World Cup and won silverware in the Hyundai A-League, rates FOXTEL A-League All Stars selection high on his list of achievements.
And with the likes of Carlos Tevez, Andrea Pirlo, Gigi Buffon and Arturo Vidal on their way with the Italian powerhouse, Beauchamp would love nothing more than to test himself against the best again.
“It was great to have the recognition for a good season with Western Sydney Wanderers and being selected as a squad member for the All Star match against one of the biggest clubs in the world,” Beauchamp said.
“It was a good challenge to be part of a squad that had limited time to gel and perform well.
“Obviously the end score line didn’t highlight how well the team performed against a world class team.
“It shows how far the Hyundai A-League has come with these quality teams wanting to come to Australia to play one-off games.
“It is an unforgettable experience and something to be proud of as an A-League player.”
Overnight Juventus restored its buffer at the top of Serie A with a 2-0 win at Udinese. The black and whites are eight points clear at the top of the league.
Fans now can vote for their favourite Hyundai A-League players to feature in Josep Gombau’s squad for August’s big game against the likely Serie A champions.
One player who wasn’t a part of the inaugural FOXTEL All-Stars clash but is desperate to be a part of this season’s one is Adelaide United playmaker Jeronimo Neumann.
The Argentine heard only good things from Reds team-mate Marcelo Carrusca who was in the side that played Manchester United and hopes to win selection under his club coach Gombau.
“He (Carrusca) told me it was amazing, a really good experience to play in this team with these players and something great to be a part of,” Jeronimo said.
“I would love nothing more to experience this. For a player it’s always something nice to play against a great club like (Juventus). It would be special.
“I hope very much it can happen.”
