From the cat-like reflexes of Brisbane Roar shot stopper Jamie Young, the experienced custodianship of Eugene Galekovic for Melbourne City, and the box-office reactions of Filip Kurto for Wellington Phoenix, there were plenty of standout performances from the ‘keepers this year.
Kurto – now part of new Hyundai A-League franchise Western United – ended up taking out Goalkeeper of the Year at the 2019 Dolan Warren Awards night.
But we anticipate the Polish gloveman will be run close by Young, Galekovic, Sydney FC’s Grand Final hero Andrew Redmayne, and indeed Perth Glory veteran Liam Reddy, who kept more clean sheets (12) than any of his colleagues this season.
Vote for your goalkeeper of the year in the poll below. Each player must have played at least 15 games.
