Keeper

Vedran Janjetovic (WSW) Line ball between Janjetovic and Jamie Young, but Ross McCormack will be seeing the Wanderers shot-stopper in his nightmares after his masterclass at AAMI.

Defenders

Bart Schenkeveld (City). What a player!. Dealt with everything that came near him and did an excellent job on an in-form Oriol Riera.

Alan Baro (Mariners) Coming off with a bandaged head after a superb shift shutting down Sydney FC – the Spaniard earned his standing ovation with a dominant display in the weekend’s most eye-catching result.

Alan Baro

Rhys Williams (Victory) Bossed it at the back and looked at ease on the ball in his best Victory performance in the 1-1 draw with Roar.

Nigel Boogaard (Jets) Recovered from an early Adelaide onslaught to guide his side to victory in his 200th appearance.

Midfielders

Ben Kantarovski (Jets) His rare goal from a rehearsed corner move is another indicator of just how well the Jets are travelling. And what a season “Kanta” is having.

Tom Hiariej (Mariners) Absolutely bossed the midfield and shackled Sydney FC in the centre of the park. One of the many heroes in yellow for the Mariners.

Forwards

Leroy George (Victory) Deserved a goal for keeping Brisbane on the back foot with his purposeful shooting and crossing.

Dimitri Petratos (Jets) Newcastle funneled their attack through the in-form Petratos, who provided a perfect cross for the Ben Kantarovski’s equaliser.

Andrew Hoole (Mariners) A class goal an assist from the corner for the second and purposeful display – “Hooley” was on fire in a brilliant win over the champions.

Roy Krishna (Phoenix) Buzzed around and caused mayhem with his pace and guile all night. May not have scored but was the most influential Phoenix player on a day when the home sides clicked beautifully in the 5-2 win.

Manager of the round: Paul Okon (Mariners) Some post game enthusiastic dance moves and fist-pumping showed just how much it meant to him. And to knock off the best team in the league – deservedly too – was a massive story for the up-and-coming Mariners.
