Hyundai A-League results, video and reaction: Round 19

Here’s your Tuesday morning recap as the Mariners stunned Wanderers, Glory smashed the Reds and the Roar and City battled for a point in Melbourne.

Sydney FC 3-1 Wellington Phoenix

On Thursday night, the Sky Blues raced out of the blocks with two goals in the first 20 minutes, including a slick team move from deep inside their own half. Phoenix pulled one back before the break but some more Milos Ninkovic magic ensured Sydney’s unbeaten run this season stretched to 19 games.

Adelaide United 0-5 Perth Glory

Extreme heat saw kick-off at Coopers Stadium delayed by an hour but the wait did little to help the Reds’ cause as Glory cruised to a big win. An inexplicable Iacopo La Rocca own goal started a night to forget for the hosts as Perth’s big guns Castro, Keogh and Taggart ran riot.

Melbourne City 2-2 Brisbane Roar

Minus nine first team regulars through injury and suspension, City should have capitulated when trailing 2-0 at the break. But someone forgot to tell Michael Valkanis’ youngsters and squad players – they stormed back to pick up what could be a priceless point come the end of the season.
