Melbourne Victory continued their winning ways, Perth Glory did just enough while Adelaide United were held to a shock draw in Hyundai A-League pre-season friendly action on Wednesday night.
AUSTIN BRACE FIRES VICTORY
Melbourne Victory’s unbeaten pre-season campaign remains intact after they overpowered Victorian PS4 NPL outfit Oakleigh Cannons 5-2.
Despite going behind midway through the opening half, Victory proved too classy for the Cannons, with Austin finishing with a first-half double.
Jai Ingham, Nicholas Sette and Pierce Waring also got on the scoresheet for Kevin Muscat’s side after the break.
Next up for Victory is the trip to Adelaide United for the Westfield FFA Cup Round of 16 next Wednesday, August 23.

TAGGART STRIKE ENOUGH FOR PERTH
On a frosty night at Percy Doyle Reserve, Perth Glory did just enough to beat PS4 WA NPL side Joondalup United 1-0.
The only goal of the game came two minutes into the second half when Adam Taggart made no mistake with a curling shot after great lead-up play by Joel Chianese.
Only great keeping from Joondalup gloveman James Bosdet denied Glory adding to their lead, denying Taggart and skipper Andy Keogh with some brilliant stops late on.

REDS HELD BY NPL OUTFIT
Adelaide United boss Marco Kurz trialled a new formation as his side was held to a 1-1 draw against local PS4 NPL outfit Campbelltown.
It was a former Red in Marc Marino who handed Campbelltown the lead just after the break before Baba Diawara equalised with a superb header on 62 minutes from Johan Absalonsen’s corner.
Kurz trialled a 4-4-2 formation in the hit-out, with Australian-born Turkish international defender Ersan Gulum making his first appearance for the club.
