Hyundai A-League pre-season friendly wrap

There were wins for Sydney FC, Newcastle Jets and Central Coast Mariners but Perth Glory slumped to a shock defeat in Hyundai A-League pre-season friendly action on Wednesday night.

Sydney FC cruise against Wanderers

The Sky Blues cruised to a 9-0 drubbing against Earlwood Wanderers FC in the Johnny Warren Community Challenge at Leichhardt Oval.

Marquee Bobô notched a hat-trick, captain Alex Brosque and centre half Jordy Buijs both picked up a brace, while Paulo Retre and Matt Simon each hit the back of the net with long range strikes.

Hoole strikes again for Mariners

New recruit Andrew Hoole scored his fourth goal of the pre-season as the Mariners edged out PS4 NPL NSW outfit Hakoah Sydney City East 1-0 at Pluim Park.

Paul Okon’s side was a mix of his Hyundai A-League stars with some exciting academy prospects.

Glory stunned by Inglewood

Kenny Lowe’s side opened their pre-season campaign with a shock 3-1 loss to PS4 NPL WA leaders Inglewood United.

Glory’s goal came in the very last minute of the match, tucked away by Jacob Italiano.

Jets soar over Magic

Newcastle Jets made it two-from-two in the pre-season with an emphatic 5-1 win over local outfit and Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32 side Broadmeadow Magic.

Winger Andrew Nabbout scored a superb hat-trick while new rercruits Roy O’Donovan and Dimitri Petratos also found the net.
