Newcastle Jets defender Johnny Koutroumbis will return to Hyundai A-League action on Sunday evening, less than two months after being diagnosed with stage one thyroid cancer.
The 20-year-old received the shock news in October and had surgery to remove a tumour on his thyroid gland.
He returned to training earlier this month, though, and after getting through an intraclub Jets match this week, has been named in the Jets squad for their trip to Melbourne City.
