The Hyundai A-League 2016 Grand Final, presented by FOXTEL, will see the Western Sydney Wanderers FC face Adelaide United at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday 1 May.
Western Sydney Wanderers FC secured their berth in the Championship decider after they defeated Brisbane Roar FC in an epic nine-goal thriller at Pirtek Stadium tonight.
The Roar looked assured of a place in the Hyundai A-League 2016 Grand Final after they found themselves 3-0 up after 23 minutes, but the Wanderers had other ideas when Romeo Castelen netted a hat-trick and Brendon Santalab scored to give the home team a 4-3 lead going into the last ten minutes of the game.
But the Roar didn’t give up and their top goal scorer, Jamie MacLaren equalised in the 81st minute which sent the match into extra time. Substitute Dario Vidosic sealed the historic victory for the Wanderers in the 102nd minute to book a meeting with Adelaide United next Sunday.
The Hyundai A-League 2016 Grand Final fixture means that history will be made at the Adelaide Oval when either Adelaide United or the Western Sydney Wanderers FC will claim their first ever Hyundai A-League Championship Trophy.
